Ford Tractor Philippines President Samuel L. Uy and Vice President Michael S. Uy recently took the opportunity to speak about Social Responsibility in Feast Conference 2024 and Teleradyo Serbisyo.
In the session titled ‘Why Giving Matters for Businesses’ held during the Feast Conference in SMX Convention Center last November 23, 2024, the father-and-son tandem discussed the reasons behind their civic involvements as well as how social advocacies benefit not only the public, but also their business. Michael shared some ideas for those aspiring to contribute to the marginalized sectors, that we don’t have to start big or do it all on our own: it could be as simple as joining a volunteer organization that already has established systems for community development.
The duo also made an appearance in Teleradyo Serbisyo’s program Konek Ka Dyan last February 9, 2025, where they were asked to talk about their journey of building their own scholarship foundation in the form of Gregorio P. Uy & Lee Peng Scholarship Foundation (GPULP) that has helped hundreds of scholars in Isabela and Cagayan. They were joined by their former scholar and now Head of their Cagayan Operations, Dr. Maricel Dayag Tungpalan, who gave a first-hand testimony of her experience as a scholar of GPULP, and how she chose it over other scholarship options because of the grassroots values formation model involving not just the students but also their families.
